Patients will receive a telephone appointment the day before their pre-assessment appointment from a nurse to ask a series of questions.
Patients will be assessed on their fitness for surgery through a range of tests conducted within the clinic and will be reviewed by an anaesthetist. The appointment starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm.
These tests include but are not limited to: venepuncture, observation taking, ECG, MRSA screening swabs, Chest X-Ray, Lung Function test, Echocardiogram, 6-minute walk test, consultation with Nurse Practitioner and an anaesthetist.
We advise patients to bring a list of their medications along with them to the appointment and to bring food/drinks or money to purchase from the hospital restaurant/coffee shop.
You are not required to fast prior to your appointment unless you have been advised to by a medical professional. Please take your medication as usual.
