We will provide a professional interpreter at your maternity appointments to you for free. You must let your community midwife know if this is a service you need.
Your family or friends may speak English, but we will still offer this support.
We aim to provide a female face-to-face interpreter at these appointments:
- Community midwife appointments
- Scans
- 28 week
- 36 week
- Planned admissions to hospital
You may request face to face interpreters for other appointments. Please let your community midwife know.
For all other appointments, or if a face to face interpreter is not available, we will provide a telephone or video interpreter.
If you are admitted in an emergency, or in natural labour, interpretation will be provided over the telephone.
