All nursery policies and procedures are available for reference and are located in nursery inside the entrance.
Accidents
All accidents are recorded and parents/carers notified on their return to nursery. Where necessary, First Aid is administered by a qualified member of staff. In the event of an emergency, arrangements will be made to transfer the child to hospital and the parent/carer will be informed immediately. The nursery is also covered by the hospital’s emergency team of doctors and nurses should this be required.
Security
The safeguarding and protection of children is of prime importance to us. A strict policy governing access to nursery premises is in place. Visitors are by appointment only. The nursery is also covered by hospital security surveillance, and security staff can attend the premises at a moment’s notice should this be required. Outdoor activity is under strict supervision in accordance with OFSTED staff to children ratios.
Equal opportunities
The nursery operates a strict Equal Opportunities policy and actively promotes equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice for all children, parents and carers. We are an inclusive setting that celebrates the diversity of our society. We regularly review our policy to ensure consistency with current legislation and guidance, and provide an environment that respects and celebrates many different cultures and religions – equipment and resources reflect a multi-national society.
Fire drills
Regular fire tests and drills are held to ensure that children can be evacuated quickly and safely from nursery in the unlikely event of a fire.
Safeguarding and protection of children
Under the Children Act (1989) and (2004), the nursery has a duty to safeguard and protect children. If at any time the nursery is concerned that a child has been harmed or is at risk of harm, or a criminal offence has been committed against or related to a child, it will report the matter to the Trust’s child protection team.
Notice
Parents/carers must give one month’s notice in writing of their intention to end/cancel their nursery place – failure to do so will incur a charge equivalent to one month’s fee in lieu of notice. The nursery reserves the right in any circumstance to terminate the place of a child without notice.
