We were successful in being reaccredited as a Veteran Aware organisation in 2023 and achieved our Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award again in 2023 (which we have held since 2018).
As well as an armed forces management champion, clinical champion and HR lead, we have support from the board, including non-executive directors, and a dedicated armed forces staff network.
Support available
We have HR policies which specifically support service leavers, veterans and reservists.
These include a guaranteed interview scheme and our dedicated reserve forces training and mobilisation policy, which supports current members, and those wishing to join, the reserve forces and cadet adult volunteers.
This allows for the provision of up to 10 days additional paid leave to support attendance at annual camp and also includes clear steps for managers to follow should a member of staff be mobilised.
In line with our special leave policy, we also offer flexibility for spouses to take time off before, during and after a partner’s deployment, injury or during bereavement.
Guaranteed interview scheme
Service leavers, reservists and veterans who identify themselves on their application form are guaranteed interviews for any roles where they meet the minimum essential criteria.
Work attachments
We offer bespoke work attachments to service leavers. We take into consideration the service leaver’s CV, their experience and where their interests lie to develop an attachment which will help to guide them towards a career they will enjoy and be successful in.
We also work with service leavers around how to apply for roles in the NHS and interview skills.
