Coming into hospital
Please contact your clinical team before coming to hospital if you or anyone in your household have:
- A new cough or flu like symptoms.
- Had diarrhoea and / or vomiting within the last two days.
Please clean your hands with the gel or wash your hands on arrival. If you have a cough, cold or other respiratory symptoms, you may be asked to wear a mask.

Main outpatients
The Freeman Hospital main outpatient department runs a number of clinics, including:
- General medicine
- General surgery
- Cardiology / thoracic medicine
- Urology
The outpatient department is divided into a number of clinic areas, labelled from A-F.
When you arrive in the department, register at the reception desk under your consultant’s name. The staff will let you know which clinic area to report to.

Staff you are likely to meet
The team in outpatient departments includes consultants, other doctors, nurses and support staff.
Please note that as we are a teaching hospital there may be students / trainees in the clinic.

Things you need to know
- Please speak to your GP if you require transport to your outpatient appointment.

- There is a WRVS refreshment bar available in the main outpatient department during most clinic times, serving hot and cold drinks and snacks.
- There is a shop in the main foyer of the Freeman Hospital and a restaurant on the level below.
