Victoria Mulholland

Victoria Mulholland is a Digital Health Nurse Specialist

Vicci Mulholland is a Digital Health Nurse Specialist

Victoria Mulholland who is better known as Vicci, is a Digital Health Nurse Specialist in the Digital Health Team

Hello, my name is Vicci Mulholland and I am a Digital Health Nurse Specialist within the Trust’s Digital Health Team.

I predominantly lead on SystmOne developments, while also supporting a wide range of digital projects across clinical services. My role involves working closely with both clinical and technical teams to understand challenges, identify opportunities for improvement and help deliver digital solutions that make a real difference to staff and patients.

I am passionate about making digital systems easier and more effective to use. Whether it is a small change that removes a daily frustration or a large-scale service transformation, I enjoy helping colleagues work more efficiently so they can spend more time focusing on patient care.

A key part of my role is listening to staff, understanding what they need and asking the right questions to get to the root of a problem. I use both my clinical experience and digital knowledge to help identify solutions, while acting as a bridge between clinical and technical teams to make sure both perspectives are represented.

I also enjoy supporting and training colleagues, creating learning resources and helping staff build confidence in using the digital tools available to them. Alongside my Digital Health role, I have been a member of the NMAHP Conference Committee for the past two years.

My digital journey

I began my nursing career in the Emergency Department, where I worked for eight years and progressed from newly qualified nurse to Senior Sister, achieving my Nurse Practitioner qualification along the way. As my career progressed, I also mentored junior colleagues and nursing students, supporting them as they developed their clinical skills and confidence.

I then spent a further 12 years working in Urgent Treatment Centres, where I continued to support the development of colleagues and students alongside developing my own clinical expertise. During this time, I became a Non-Medical Prescriber and took on the role of Education Lead for the service.

My move into digital health came following a change in personal circumstances and an opportunity to join the newly established Digital Health Team. The role immediately sparked my curiosity and gave me the chance to combine my clinical background with a growing interest in how technology can improve healthcare.

Over the past five years, I have developed a strong understanding of digital systems, Trust and national standards, and the requirements of services across the organisation. I have gained experience supporting projects of all sizes, from targeted system improvements to major digital implementations, while building my leadership, project management and organisational skills.

What motivates me most is seeing the positive impact digital improvements can have on staff. There is real satisfaction in helping someone solve a problem they may have been struggling with for months, or translating a technical issue into clinical language so colleagues can better understand and engage with the solution.

As digital healthcare continues to evolve, I believe it is important that Digital Health teams remain visible, approachable and connected to frontline staff. By understanding the challenges colleagues face and working with them to find practical solutions, we can continue to improve both staff experience and patient care.
