Ward/Area Covered
- Paediatric Rheumatology is a regional service who work closely with the MDT and work collaboratively with Occupational Therapy.
- Patients are seen in new patient and follow up clinic appointments in the children’s outpatient department, patients may also be reviewed on 2b or 8.
- Group sessions run for blocks of treatment in the gym spaces in children’s outpatients such as: Pilates or strength and conditioning. There is also access to block sessions in the hydrotherapy pool if appropriate.
- Transition clinics are run alongside adult teams
- There is also a outreach therapy service clinic based in Carlisle.
Conditions Covered
- A regional service assessing and treating patients with inflammatory conditions such as JIA, JDM, Lupus, Scleroderma, CRMO.
- From within the local area of Newcastle patients are seen who present with non inflammatory biomechanical pain and symptoms affecting their mobility and function.
