Ward/Area Covered
- The neuro rehab team are mainly located on the neurosciences and neurology ward (1B) within Great North Children’s Hospital.
- The neurological physiotherapy service cares for children and young people with neurological problems and post neuro surgical procedures.
Conditions Covered
- A neuro physiotherapist assesses and treats children and young people with neurological conditions.
- These are conditions associated with the central nervous system – the brain, spinal cord and nerves. Children with neurological conditions can often have complex problems including: muscle weakness, stiffness and changes in muscle tone, balance and co-ordination problems, sensory changes, movement disorders.
- These conditions can have a huge impact on the body’s function, and on day-to-day activities.
