Newcastle’s Liver Unit is made up of a team of experts who specialise in the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the liver and biliary tree (gallbladder and bile ducts).
You can find out more about each member of the consultant team listed at the bottom of this page:
A team of experienced nurses who specialise in the management and treatment of patients with hepatitis C are based in our liver unit. We also have two dedicated liver transplant coordinators who are involved in the care of patients before and after liver transplantation.
We work with lots of our clinical experts including:
- social workers
- research nurses
- fibroscan assistant
Our patients with conditions affecting their liver often need input from other clinical areas. We also work very closely with colleagues in gastroenterology, hepatobiliary surgery and radiology.
Patients are cared for on Ward 4 and the Day Treatment Centre where we carry out daycase procedures and our liver transplant assessment programme.
