The North East’s Immunology and Allergy Unit is based at the RVI and is one of the busiest of its kind in the UK.
Here our specialists see patients who have been referred to our care for the investigation and management of a range of immune system disorders and allergic conditions including:
- inhalant and food allergies
- drug allergies
- chronic urticaria
- autoimmune disease
- auto inflammatory syndromes
- immunodeficiency (either primary or secondary).
To help us diagnose and treat patients we see, we run a range of clinics:

How to find us
The Immunology and Allergy Unit can be found with the Programmed Investigations Unit on Level 3 of Leazes Wing at the RVI.
You can find us just off the corridor between the Emergency Department and the Assessment Suite. Look for signage showing you where to go.
If you enter the RVI via Leazes Wing reception, turn right and continue down the corridor towards the Emergency Department and then turn left into the Immunology and Allergy Unit.
If you enter the RVI via New Victoria Wing or the multi storey car park, head towards the X-ray department and following the corridor round, heading towards Leazes Wing. Then look for the sign for the Immunology and Allergy Unit which is on your right.
