This is a treatment used to transfer embryos that have been previously created and stored (frozen) during an earlier IVF cycle.
Before transfer, the embryo is thawed in the laboratory and placed into the womb at the best time for implantation. This can be carried out in a woman’s natural cycle or with medication to prepare the lining of the womb.
This approach allows this use of stored embryos without having to undergo another egg collection and, as such, provides an important treatment option.
