Frozen embryo transfer is a treatment used to transfer embryos that have been previously created and stored (frozen) during an earlier IVF cycle.
Before transfer, the embryo is thawed in the laboratory. We then place the embryo into the womb at the best time for implantation. This can be carried out during a woman’s natural cycle or with medication to prepare the lining of the womb.
This technique means we can use stored embryos without having to undergo another egg collection.
