Westgate road Urgent Treatment Centre is temporarily closed. Unless your condition is life threatening, please don’t just turn up or walk in the emergency department (A&E). Please think pharmacist, GP or 111 first. Ponteland Road and Molineux Urgent Treatment Centres remain open.
For medical advice, or if you are unsure whether the urgent treatment centre is the right place for you, please use the NHS 111 online service.
Urgent treatment centres (UTC) can be used if you need urgent medical attention – for example have a minor illness or injury – but it’s not a life-threatening situation.
- Westgate Road urgent treatment centre (UTC) is open from 8am until 8pm, 7 days a week.
- Molineux UTC is open from 8am until 8pm, 7 days a week
- Ponteland Road UTC will remain open from 8am until 10pm, 7 days a week.
This means that you will receive the best possible treatment and advice from the most appropriate health care professional.
Urgent treatment centres can assess and treat:
- cuts, sprains and strains
- minor burns
- scalds
- infected wounds
- grazes
- possible broken bones
You can use the urgent treatment centres located in Newcastle 7 days a week:
Or you can use the minor injuries unit at the emergency department in the Royal Victoria Infirmary in the city centre.
