We have urgent treatment centres at the main Royal Victoria Infirmary site and in Cowgate and Byker.
You do not need to book an appointment to use this service.
On arrival, you will need to give your details at reception before being assessed by a member of the team who will decide how urgently you need to be seen.
Royal Victoria Infirmary urgent treatment centre
Located next to the main emergency department.
Opening hours:
8am-12 midnight
The team can help with:
- Minor injuries to hands, limbs and feet.
- Ear, nose and throat problems.
- Minor head, eye or ear problems.
- Infected wounds or bites.
- Sprains and strains.
- Minor burns or scalds.

Ponteland Road urgent treatment centre, Cowgate
The centre has x-ray, ultrasound and some heart testing facilities on site and can also do certain blood tests.
The team can help with:
- Minor burns and scalds
- Infected wounds
- Sprains and strains
- Cuts and grazes
- Possible broken bones

8am – 10pm every day of the year.

Molineux Street urgent treatment centre, Byker
The team can help with:
- Ear, nose and throat problems.
- Conjunctivitis/sticky eye.
- Infected wounds or bites.
- Minor injuries to hands, limbs and feet.
- Sprains and strains.
- Minor burns or scalds.

8am – 8pm every day of the year.
