The Campus for Ageing and Vitality is sited on the former Newcastle General Hospital site and is being developed to establish the world’s premier centre for healthy ageing and living.
Working in partnership, the Newcastle Hospitals and Newcastle University’s vision is for Newcastle’s West End to become nationally and internationally-renowned as a leader in ageing and health.
Home to the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre, the Campus will become a purpose built site that brings together the NHS, Newcastle University and industry dedicated to improving health care for older people.
You can find out more about this vision on the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre website:The vision for the Campus for Ageing and Vitality
Whilst many services were relocated to the Freeman Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary around 10 years ago, the site is still home to some of our key departments:
- Westgate Road Walk in Centre
- NECTAR (North East Children’s Transport And Retrieval service)
