Nursing Times Awards 2022 Finalists
Newcastle clinical educators have been shortlisted for the Nursing Times Awards 2022 Theatre and Surgical Nursing category.
Named as Finalists for the Theatre and Surgical Nursing category, the team were lauded for their inspirational approach to ensuring that student operating department practitioners (ODPs) could continue to receive meaningful learning opportunities despite large numbers of theatre staff being redeployed into critical care environments to support their colleagues.

Nursing Times Awards 2022 Finalists
A cancer research team at the Freeman Hospital’s Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre has been shortlisted in this year’s Nursing Times Awards.
Named as Finalists in the Clinical Research Nursing category, the team is recognised for rapidly developing and implementing the UK’s first online consenting process within early phase clinical trial research in response to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nursing Times Awards 2022 Finalists
A collaboration between nurses specialising in infection prevention and control, continence, and staff on an elderly care ward have been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award.
Newcastle’s Finalists in the Continence Promotion and Care category have been recognised for their pioneering efforts to raise the clinical profile of the need to assess for a urinary catheter and reduce unnecessary catheterisation, and as a consequence successfully reduce the risk of acquiring associated gram-negative blood stream infections (GNBSIs) for patients in our care.

Infection Prevention and Control Team winners
The Infection Prevention Society named Newcastle’s team winners of the IPS Gold Award for Excellence 2022.
Newcastle’s Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team won the national award in recognition of their successful campaign to reduce glove use which led to used being decreased by nearly a third in a very short space of time.#
