Our roles
There is over 400 clinical and non-clinical members of staff working collaboratively with staff and departments throughout the trust to run and deliver research.
Whether you’re seeing patients who are taking part in a clinical trial, managing data, setting up a study or managing a team, everyone in clinical research plays an important part in helping to embed research into patient care.
Below is an overview of some of the roles we have in research and what they involve
Research nurse
- Leading clinical trials and supporting patients who are part of our research
- Recruiting patients to take part in research
- Ensure safe and effective care for our patients
- Safely administering investigational treatments to patients, where relevant.
Clinical trials coordinator
- Overseeing the set up and delivery of research studies/trials
- Supporting clinical teams and ensuring studies are delivered in accordance with research protocols and legislation
- Submitting amendments to study protocols where necessary.
Data manager
- Responsible for the collection of data for your portfolio of studies/trials
- Working across external databases and internal systems to ensure data is accurately transferred for patients who are part of trials
- Provide administration support when needed.
