Newcastle Hospitals’ research has a strong reputation nationally and internationally in areas including: ageing, cancer, child health, diagnostics, robotic surgery, advanced therapeutics, microbiology, mitochondrial disease, immunology, transplantation, rare diseases, liver and musculoskeletal diseases.
We have over 400 members of staff employed specifically to support the set-up and delivery of clinical trials, and our world-leading research gives many patients the opportunity to access new treatments, therapies, and services.
Research take place in all clinical teams across our hospitals, including in our dedicated research facilities.
Some of our facilities are funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research, a national organisation which supports research and clinical trial activities.
We collaborate with industry, academia, NHS colleagues, and partners on a wide range of research opportunities – you can read more about our research infrastructure and facilities below.
