Parent education is an important part of your antenatal care, it can help you to prepare for your baby’s birth, giving you information, and confidence.
Antenatal classes
Our antenatal classes are free and practical. They are held at four locations across Newcastle upon Tyne, and you can book via Eventbrite using the links below.The sessions cover three different topics – labour and birth; comfort and care; and baby practical.

When you book a ticket, it will admit you and one other person. You can book onto one, two, or all three classes. Antenatal classes will be facilitated by community midwives, maternity support workers, health visitors as well as Healthworks and Action for Children representatives.
Young parents class and maternity tour
We run regular antenatal sessions for young parents – people who are 20 years old, or younger. The sessions take place at the RVI in Newcastle centre.
When you attend, you should be 31 weeks pregnant, or more, but you can book now. The sessions include a Labour and birth class, plus a tour of Maternity.
