Paediatric immunology nurse specialist

Helen Iveson undertook training as a Children’s Nurse at Northumbria University qualifying with an Advanced Diploma in Children’s Nursing in 2009.
Working as a staff nurse for 12 years on the Planned Investigations day unit at the Great North Children’s Hospital, Helen developed an interest in Paediatric Immunology and started to attended Immunology conferences and meetings.

Helen has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Immunology since January 2023.
Helen is a member of the Northern Network of Paediatric Nurse group and the PING (Paediatric Immunology Nurse Group) national nurse network group.

Helen has become part of the ImmunoDef UK paediatric information writing group in 2023.

Lisa Salter

Paediatric immunology clinical nurse specialist

Lisa Salter undertook training as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) at the Nightingale School of Nursing, St Thomas’ Hospital qualifying in August 1989, then went on to train and qualify as a Registered Sick Childrens Nurse (RSCN) at Newcastle upon Tyne School of Nursing in March 1992.
Working as a staff nurse on a general paediatric ward, Lisa developed an early interest in Paediatric Immunology and started to attend immunology forums and meetings as early as 1994.

Lisa has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Immunology since July 2003.

Lisa was a founding member of the Northern Network of Paediatric Nurses, established in 2017. She was subsequently instrumental in establishing an annual national study day for paediatric immunology nurses, resulting in the formation of PING a national network group.

Lisa became part of ImmunoDeficiency UK Paediatric information writing group in 2016 and was a Paediatric advisor on the BSI Immunology Nurse competencies steering group in 2023.
