Newcastle Hospitals has appointed two new members to its Board of Directors team.
Jackie Bilcliff will join the Trust as Chief Finance Officer in the late summer, after its current Director of Finance, Angela Dragone, announced her retirement earlier this year.
Jackie is currently Group Director of Finance and Digital and Deputy Chief Executive at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust where she has worked since 2014. She qualified as an accountant in1996 and has held several senior finance positions within the private, health, and criminal justice sectors in the North East.
Jackie said: “I am really excited to be joining the team at Newcastle and to bring my skills and experience to such a leading organisation. This is an important time for the NHS as we seek out new opportunities to support patients and provide the very best care and I am enthusiastic about the potential I see throughout the organisation.”
The second appointment to the Board is Liz Bromley, who will take up her Non-Executive Director role next month (June).
Liz is the Chief Executive Officer of NCG (formerly Newcastle College Group) – one of the UK’s largest national Further Education (FE) College Groups – and the only one with a national footprint with two colleges in Newcastle, one in Carlisle and four others across the country.
She is responsible for delivering the strategy, which is underpinned by a mission to enable social mobility and economic prosperity through exceptional education – a vision closely aligned to that of Newcastle Hospitals’ for health.
Liz began her career in Higher Education with the Open University where she was Associate Dean in the Faculty of Health and Care and led the development of a brand new social work degree, following the Victoria Climbie review, as well as the first distance learning, practice-based pre-registration Nursing Programme in the early 2000s.
After 20 years of working in Universities, Liz moved to the North East and joined the Further Education sector and throughout her career has led on a number of significant change programmes and service restructures.
The trust’s Chief Executive Dame Jackie Daniel said: “I am delighted that we have appointed two exceptional candidates to our Board and look forward to welcoming them to the team.”
Trust chairman Professor Sir John Burn added: “We are delighted to welcome Jackie and Liz to the board and look forward to using their breadth of expertise to further improve the services the trust provides to its patients and the experience of its staff.
“Newcastle Hospitals has a clear vision and set of values that put patient care and staff experience at the heart of our organisation. Both Jackie and Liz share those values, and I have no doubt that they will make a hugely positive contribution to our journey.”
