Scam parking charge/penalty charge notices (PCN) and fraudulent QR codes
PCN notices – these are never issued via text by our parking management team. Parking enforcement is only ever by letter, so if you receive messages about parking/penalty charge notices via text, please do not click any links and forward for free to 7726 to report as suspicious.
Fraudulent QR codes – we have been made aware of fraudulent QR codes placed on payment machines and signage within some car parks. The only QR codes we use for payment or validation are found on consoles located within our premises.

Our barrier car parks operate with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras.
Pay on foot barrier
Please take a ticket on entry. The ticket should not be left in the car. The first 30 minutes are free.
Payment should be made at the pay station using the ticket taken on entry before returning to the vehicle.
If you return within 30 minutes when you can proceed directly to the exit barrier.
All pay machines take payment by coin, note and card (exc. American Express). If using contactless please keep the card over the reader until transaction is processed as readers do take longer. Chip and PIN is also available.
When car parks are full, barriers will not raise and allow entry until spaces become available. Please wait at the barrier as spaces do turnover steadily. As soon as spaces become available you will be able to take a ticket and enter.
Pay on exit
Our non-barriered car parks operate with cameras which capture an image of vehicle entry and exit times.

Long stay tariff
In the event that your stay as a patient exceeds 4 hours, please ask your ward or department to provide a long stay concession. This will make sure your parking tariff is capped at £8.00 for any stay beyond 4 hours.
Your ticket will be validated at one of our main receptions, this concession must be requested before returning to the pay station as it cannot be applied after leaving the hospital.
Disabled parking
Blue Badge holders may park in standard bays and designated disabled bays within car parks but may not park in drop-off bays, on double yellow or red lines or in any ambulance or maternity bays. Blue Badge Scheme rules apply and the badge should only be used when the holder is present either at point of arrival or departure.
If blue badge holders with good mobility are able to use standard bays this would support other blue badge holders e.g. those with wheelchairs or adapted vehicles to access designated disabled bays.
Parking is available free of charge for blue badge holders and if the concession is activated at main receptions. There are no time limits applied to blue badge use when parked.
Blue badge holders should leave the time clock on display in the vehicle and show the blue badge at main reception.
If the vehicle is in a barrier car park please scan the ticket to validate free parking concession
If the vehicle is in a non-barrier car park then please input vehicle registration on the terminal.
Please note that we cannot guarantee access to a designated disabled bay.
Drop-off and collection
All drop-off and collection areas at the main entrances are monitored by automatic number plate recognition and enforcement is in operation.
You should checking the signage before leaving your vehicle. In most cases there is a maximum stay of 10 minutes.
If you are collecting someone from a ward or department please use the main car park as there may be delays with discharge. All main entrances have seating areas where patients can wait while your vehicle is brought from the car park to the collection point.
If you are dropping someone off and assistance is required, please take the patient to a seating area and then proceed to a car park to leave your vehicle there.
Please help support our clean air measures and avoid waiting in car parks or drop off/pick up areas with your engine running.
Visitor parking
Please consider car sharing when visiting patients, to help us maintain capacity in the car parks for patients attending appointments.
Do not leave your vehicle in the car park if going into Newcastle or the surrounding area once visiting has finished.
