Please note: emergency contraception and treatment for urine infections can now be provided by your local pharmacy.
You can find our urgent treatment centres in Cowgate and Byker.
You do not need to book an appointment to use the service.
When you arrive, you will need to give your details at reception and wait to be seen by a member of the team.
Ponteland Road urgent treatment centre, Cowgate
The centre has x-ray, ultrasound and some heart testing facilities on site and can also do certain blood tests.
The team at the centre can help with:
- Minor burns and scalds
- Infected wounds
- Sprains
- Cuts
- Grazes
- Possible broken bones

8.00am – 10.00pm every day of the year.

The team at the centre can help with:
- Ear, nose and throat problems.
- Conjunctivitis/sticky eye.
- Urine infections.
- Infected wounds.
- Minor injuries to hands, limbs and feet.
- Sprains.
- Minor burns or scalds.
- Emergency contraception.
