Things you need to know
- Nursing staff are always available for information regarding a patient’s treatment and progress. If you wish to speak to a member of the medical team please bear in mind that after 4pm and at weekends wards are covered by an ‘on-call’ team which may be different to your consultant’s team.
- If you are admitted for elective surgery you will have attended a pre-admission clinic and will have been advised of the likely length of hospital stay to expect.
- If you require a longer period of rehabilitation or treatment and are from outside Newcastle you will be referred to their local hospital. We do understand this may be upsetting for some patients and their carers but it is vital we adhere to this policy to ensure we can continue to admit all emergency cases as quickly as possible.
