Preparing for your appointment
Please read any information leaflets we give you carefully, as they will give specific advice on your treatment.
Our Speciality Programming nursing staff will contact you via telephone after your treatment has been agreed with your consultant during your outpatient appointment , we will arrange an appointment for treatment with you on the Medical Day Case Unit , you will receive a Text reminder 24 hours prior to your appointment.
When you come to your appointment please bring:
- your appointment letter
- a list of any medicines you take
- any samples your appointment letter asks you to provide.
When you arrive at the Medical Day Case Unit
- Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment.
- If you are running late, please contact the department before coming to the hospital, as we may have to rearrange your appointment. If you are arriving by patient transport, please contact the transport department via your GP for additional instructions.
- Please attend your appointment alone. At present, visitors, relatives, or children will not be able to come with you to your appointment. The only exception to this will be for carers and you will need to inform us in advance during your initial telephone contact with the nurse programmers.
- Please inform the Unit by telephone if you have any infections prior to arriving, this may postpone your treatment on the day.
- If someone is bringing you to your appointment, please ask them to drop you off and return when you are ready to go home.
- When you arrive at the Medical Day Case unit , you will be greeted by a member of the reception team who will confirm your details prior to be called into our day case are for treatment
