Our next members’ event will take place on Thursday 5th March from 1.30pm – 4.00pm in the Piano Room at the RVI. This session will focus on innovations in cancer care and living with cancer, offering members the chance to hear about the latest developments, support available, and what this means for patient experience. We hope you’ll join us for an informative and inspiring afternoon.
We will include brief presentations, leaving plenty of time for group work and discussion so that everyone in attendance can get involved and share their ideas.
The programme is as follows:

| 1.45pm | Welcome and opening remarks By Sir Paul Ennals, Chair of Newcastle Hospitals and Catherine Heslop, Public Governor and Chair of the People, Engagement and Membership (PEM) working group. |
| 1.50pm | Introduction by Dawn Youssef, Director of Operations, Cancer and Haematology Clinical Board Dawn Youssef will provide an overview of the afternoon’s programme. She will highlight the importance of innovation, patient experience, and collaborative working across our cancer services, setting the scene for an informative and inspiring session. |
| 1.55pm | Revolutionised cancer care “The wonder of the T Cell” – How T cell engagers have revolutionised lymphoma treatment Dr Wendy Osborne, Consultant Haematologist will be sharing an accessible and inspiring insight into the power of T-cells and the remarkable impact of Tâcell engaging therapies on lymphoma care. The session will explore how these innovative treatments work and what they mean for patients now and in the future. |
| 2.25pm | Group discussion Table groups will discuss the rising number of people affected by cancer and the increasing range of options available: How do we keep up? |
| 2.45pm | Brief feedback from the group discussion |
| 2.55pm | Living with cancer – Prehabilitation at Newcastle Hospitals – current practice and future research Gemma Kindness, Advanced Physiotherapist, and Dr Ben Hood, Nurse Consultant / Cancer Research UK Senior Nurse, will explore how prehabilitation supports people living with cancer, helping them prepare physically and emotionally for treatment. Gemma and Ben will share what’s currently happening across Newcastle Hospitals, the benefits patients are already experiencing and the exciting research shaping the future of prehabilitation. Living with diabetes during pregnancy can be associated with a high degree of anxiety and feelings of guilt. We will hear first-hand experiences from women who have used new pregnancy specific insulin pump systems during their pregnancies. |

| 3.45pm | Brief feedback from the group discussion |
| 3.55pm | Summary and closing reflections by Dawn Youssef Dawn Youssef will bring the event to a close with a summary of key messages from the afternoon and reflections on how the insights shared will support our ongoing work across cancer services. |
