Mr Bhatnagar has been a consultant orthopaedic surgeon since 2015 and specialises in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, as well as knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery).
He also offers roboticâassisted MAKO hip and knee replacement surgery.
After completing his initial medical training in India, Mr Bhatnagar undertook specialist orthopaedic training in the north east of England and was awarded the FRCS (Tr & Orth) by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
He was subsequently selected for the prestigious Cavendish Fellowship in primary and revision arthroplasty in Sheffield, further enhancing his expertise in complex joint replacement surgery.
Prior to joining Newcastle Hospitals, Mr Bhatnagar worked as a consultant in Bolton and Sunderland Hospitals, gaining broad experience across both elective and trauma orthopaedics.
He has a strong interest in trauma surgery, particularly the management of periâprosthetic fractures. Mr Bhatnagar works as a trainer and educational supervisor for orthopaedic registrars and as a mentor for surgical care practitioners. He has been Principal Investigator for national multicentre clinical trials.
Mr Bhatnagar has completed the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Clinical Leadership Programme.
