She completed her postgraduate training in the Northeast of England and currently leads the Fetal Medicine and Fetal Monitoring services at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. In addition, she holds an honorary consultant post at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, contributing to the regional tertiary fetal medicine service.
Dr Elgendy holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research from Newcastle University and is actively involved in research, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. She is passionate about advancing maternity safety through education and evidence-based practice.
A recognised educator in fetal monitoring and maternity safety. Dr Elgendy delivers training at both local and national levels, including as a national faculty member for the charity Baby Lifeline Training. She chairs the regional fetal wellbeing community of Practice group and leads masterclasses that are widely valued for their clinical relevance, practical application, and impact on improving intrapartum care.
Her professional interests include fetal medicine, high-risk antenatal care, intrapartum surveillance, and improving outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration and continuous learning.
