Dr Fiona Rayner is a consultant rheumatologist working at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital. Dr Rayner is originally from Nottingham and graduated from Newcastle University in 2008. After completing foundation and core medical training in hospitals around the North East, she developed an interest in rheumatology. During her rheumatology training she completed a PhD investigating why people with rheumatoid arthritis experience flares.
Dr Rayner took up her consultant job at Newcastle Hospitals in 2023. She has an interest in inflammatory arthritis, ultrasound and synovial biopsies. Dr Rayner continues to have a strong interest in research, recruiting patients for clinical trials and leading studies undertaken at the clinical research facility at the RVI.
