Dr Mustafa is a Consultant in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine at Newcastle Hospitals. She obtained her medical degree in Sudan and completed postgraduate medical training in the Republic of Ireland, where she was awarded a master’s degree in clinical research. She subsequently undertook higher specialist training in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine in Newcastle and across the Northeast of England.
She works between the Rheumatology Department at the Freeman Hospital and the Acute Medical Team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Her clinical interests include inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, musculoskeletal ultrasound in rheumatology, and the management of rheumatological conditions during pregnancy.
Dr Mustafa remains actively involved in clinical research and contributes to the recruitment of patients into clinical trials.
