The Equality Delivery System (EDS) helps us improve the services we provide to local communities and helps us provide better working environments for those who work in the NHS, while meeting the requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
From April 2015, EDS2 implementation has been mandatory in the NHS Standard Contract and is explicitly cited within the CCG Assurance Framework.
At heart of EDS2 are 18 outcomes against which NHS organisations assess and guide themselves. They are grouped under four goals:
Goal One
Better Health Outcomes
Goal Two
Improved patient access and experience
Goal Three
A representative and supported workforce
Goal Four
Inclusive Leadership

The Equality Act 2010 sets a legal framework for improving equality across the UK. It requires us to:
- eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation
- advance equality of opportunity between people who share protected characteristics
- foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
In complying with the legislation we publish our equality objectives and share information we review annually to demonstrate our compliance.
