A key feature of this development work will be engagement with internal and external stakeholders to set the trust’s strategic framework and direction for the next 5 years. Detailed planning will be developed by the strategy development group which will provide regular updates on progress to the trust board and wider organisation.
It is expected the new 5-year strategy will be in place for April 2026. We are also developing a clinical strategy will be the central tenet on which all of our trust plans are built.
Our clinical board’s priorities
Each of our clinical boards has undertaken engagement work with clinicians, leaders and staff to set their priorities for the year. Every board will have a clear focus on the following areas.
Quality priorities
- Safer and more effective medicines use – We are focusing on safe storage, prescribing, administration, and monitoring of medications.
- Responding quickly to deteriorating patients – Early recognition and quick action save lives. We are improving how we identify and respond to patients when their condition changes.
- Protecting patient rights – We are strengthening our approach to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) to ensure every patient receives the right care under the Mental Capacity Act.
Operational priorities
- Improving patient experience through participation in the patient experience programme.
- Maintaining clear clinical governance processes to enhance patient safety
- Reducing waiting times for patients.
- Delivering improvements in staff experience through contributing to the People Plan, responding to feedback in local and national NHS staff surveys and by attracting, retaining and developing a highly skilled workforce.
- Meeting our financial targets, including cost improvement programmes.
