Dr Kelly Hunt is a consultant physician in older people’s medicine at Newcastle Hospitals with a particular interest in acute care of the frail older person, acute internal medicine and dementia care.
Having graduated from Leicester Medical School in 2000, Dr Hunt commenced postgraduate training within the Midlands region, obtaining an MRCP in 2003.
She moved to Newcastle in 2004 and later started specialist training in elderly care and general medicine. Dr Hunt took up her consultant post at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in July 2013.
Working as both an acute physician and elderly care consultant on the RVI site, Dr Hunt is involved in developing a new acute elderly care service. The intention is to provide early specialist review or guidance into the care of older people admitted to hospital.
Education and training
Dr Hunt has an interest in education at an undergraduate and postgraduate level, and co-founded the Association of Elderly Medicine Education (AEME). This association aims to organise and support activities related to the education of current and future elderly care physicians.
