Dr Tom Oliphant is a consultant dermatologist at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where he specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer, Mohs micrographic surgery, nail surgery and the surgical treatment of skin disorders.
He qualified from Cardiff University in 2003. After a brief period as a locum registrar at the RVI in Newcastle, Dr Oliphant moved to Leeds to complete four years as a dermatology registrar, entering the specialist register in February 2011.
He then worked as a consultant at Leeds General Infirmary before returning to the RVI in October 2011 as a fellow in Mohs micrographic/dermatologic surgery, and was appointed as a consultant there in October 2012.
Since 2019 he has been lead for the specialist skin cancer multidisciplinary team. He has an active role in training and along with three colleagues runs a fellowship training program for Mohs micrographic surgery.
He is current president elect for the British Society for Dermatological Surgery and will serve as president from July 2027
