Miss Dawkins graduated from Cambridge University in 2010 having also undertaken a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Science during her undergraduate training. She spent her foundation training in Peterborough, before spending a year as a general duties medical officer in Lincolnshire.
She undertook her core surgical training in James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough and remained in the North East for her higher surgical training, completing this at the Freeman Hospital in 2023. She has since completed a Masters in Trauma Science at Queen Mary University, London. She also has diplomas in Medical Leadership, Military Medical Leadership and Clinical Education.
She took up her position as a consultant vascular surgeon at the Freeman Hospital in 2023. She has a specialist interest in open arterial surgery, trauma surgery, amputation, complex regional pain syndrome and diabetic foot. She is also the educational lead for the department.
Miss Dawkins has additional roles with Newcastle University Medical School as the lead for the Year 4 “Clinical Experience in Long Term Conditions and Elective Surgery” (CELTS) Module. She has also held several national roles within the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland. Previously, she served as the trainee representative on the Vascular Society Council and was a member of the Circulation Foundation Charity Committee and the Education Committee. She continues to serve on the Workforce Committee.
