Mr Holland has been a consultant at Newcastle Hospitals since 1998. He initially completed his medical school training in 1986, subsequently carried out his orthopaedic surgical training in Birmingham and completed a fellowship in hip and knee surgery in South Africa in 1997.
Mr Holland specialises in both hip and knee replacement surgery and particularly has a wealth of experience in managing disorders of the hip joint. He has performed pioneering work in hip resurfacing procedures and has carried out over 5000 hip replacements throughout his career.
He also treats patients with problematic and complex hip replacements performing revision hip replacements as well as providing expert second opinions across the region.
Mr Holland is extensively involved in research serving a principal investigator for both national and international clinical trials including the development of the first UK ceramic RECERF hip resurfacing.
He also carries out teaching and lecturing to orthopaedic trainees and consultants throughout the UK on new advancements of managing hip disorders.
