Dr Philip Brown is a consultant in rheumatology and general medicine who works between the rheumatology department at the Freeman Hospital and the acute medical team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. Dr Brown, originally from the north of Scotland, graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2011 before completing his medical and rheumatology training in the North East of England. He was awarded a PhD from Newcastle University in 2022 for research into ways of predicting response to treatment in rheumatoid arthritis.
Dr Brown started his consultant post at Newcastle Hospitals in 2023. He has an interest in inflammatory arthritis, ultrasound and giant cell arteritis. He also regularly takes part in the care of acutely unwell patients admitted to hospital as part of the acute medical team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
