Ward 9 provides specialist surgical in-patient care for children and young people.
Things you need to know
- There is an open visiting policy on the ward in agreement with the nurse-in-charge.
- Overnight facilities are available.
- Please note that only one parent or relative can stay overnight because of lack of space and safety reasons. However the ward sister will always discuss any special circumstances with you.
- Hot drinks are only allowed in the parents’ room and not in patient cubicles or patient areas, unless you use a cup or flask with a lid.
- We have a large play area and each patient cubicle has its own built-in TV with DVD player.

Ward 9 is on level of the Great North Children’s Hospital in New Victoria Wing at the RVI.
