June is international scoliosis awareness month
Scoliosis is when a spine twists and curves. In many cases the cause is unknown and the condition can be extreme and rapidly progressive.
Our aim is to really raise awareness of this condition that is generally not very well known by holding an open day where you can come along and meet our specialists at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary – home to our specialist scoliosis centre.
Who can come?
- Patients who have had scoliosis surgery
- Patients who are waiting for scoliosis surgery
- Health professionals who manage and support patients affected by scoliosis
- Anyone who wants to know more about scoliosis
Surgeons, specialists nurses, physiotherapists along with representatives from medical industry will be there to provide advice.
