Dr Ian Forrest is a consultant physician in respiratory medicine at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where he specialises in Interstitial Lung Disease, Pleural Disease and lung cancer.
Dr Forrest graduated form Edinburgh in 1994 and trained in the Northern Region including a MRC Clinical Research Fellowship. He was appointed as a consultant at the RVI in 2006 and has since developed the Interstitial Lung Disease Service (Clinical Lead) and Pleural Service (Clinical Lead) as well as the RVI’s Lung Oncology service.
Having a keen interest in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, he works as Associate Clinical Sub-Dean for the Tyne base unit and is Chair of the British Thoracic Society Education and Training Committee.
Dr Forrest has been involved in developing and delivering national courses in Thoracic Ultrasound and Speciality training and he maintains a keen commitment to general medicine on-call as well as general respiratory medicine as part of the RVI’s Respiratory Service.
