DIY testing kits
Due to unforeseen circumstances we are not currently able to provide DIY kits’
Do it yourself at home sexual health testing kits (DIY kit)
You are now able to request a do it yourself at home sexual health testing kit (DIY kit) from New Croft Centre by telephoning 0191 229 2999 between 08:30am and 4:30pm or by requesting online.
These DIY kits are only suitable if you do not have any symptoms of an STI.
If you are symptomatic or have been told you are a contact of infection you should telephone 0191 229 2999 for advice.
There are four types of DIY kit available and they are colour coded for ease:
- Orange for women
- Green for men who have sex only with women
- Yellow for men who have sex with men
- Blue for trans/non-binary individuals
Please note that these DIY kits are available to pick up Monday to Friday from 9am until 4pm.
If you telephone us you will be given a date and time slot to collect your DIY kit over the telephone.
The DIY kits will include full instructions regarding how to take the samples and how to post them back to us using Royal Mail. You can also drop your DIY kit off at New Croft House to a drop box in our entrance.
Requesting a DIY kit online
If you would like to use the online requesting service please click on the link below and give us your name, date of birth and telephone number. You must choose a date and time slot that is convenient to collect your DIY kit. You must give us three working days to arrange your collection slot.
You will receive a text message with your allocated collection time and date but this will not be immediately. If we are unable to give you your preferred time we will give you a time closest to it. Please contact us on 0191 229 2999 if this time is not convenient.
Please note that if you are under 18, and have requested the DIY kit online, due to our safeguarding policy you will be contacted by telephone before a collection slot will be provided.
COVID-19 update
Do not attend New Croft Centre to collect your DIY kit if you or a member of your household has symptoms associated with COVID-19 such as fever, cough, loss of taste or sense of smell. You must also not attend if you have otherwise been advised to self-isolate.
You could ask a friend or relative to collect the DIY kit but they must bring the text message with the collection time and date with them.
Please wear a face covering when you attend to collect your DIY kit.
