The team is made up of a range of clinicians including:
- Primary care mental health workers
- Psychological therapists and clinical psychologists
Primary care mental health workers have a core mental health profession and registration, usually Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Counselling, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work.
Psychological Therapists are experienced CBT therapists, accredited by BABCP. Clinical & Counselling Psychologists are trained to Doctoral level and have a broad training that covers the lifespan and to work in a wide variety of mental health settings.
We use different models of therapy and evidence based interventions to promote psychological wellbeing and development of skills.
Clinical psychologists can work with patients to understand their symptoms, thoughts, behaviours and feelings in context, using formulation and then working to empower them to learn to tolerate, accept or manage distress differently.
The clinicians have a range of therapy training, including Solution Focussed Therapy, DBT approaches, EMDR and CBT. Clinicians will usually begin with an extended assessment and formulation. Patients have anywhere between 1-16 sessions, which can be increased to 20 if appropriate.
We are a teaching Trust and as a result some people may be offered appointments with a trainee clinical psychologist who is under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
