Flourish is Newcastle Hospitals’ cornerstone programme for supporting staff to liberate their full potential.
The concept behind this evolving model of organisational development is simple. To build a framework which creates an environment that:
- supports staff to bring their ‘best self’ to work,
- provide the best patient care, and
- lead innovation and change.
A health workplace
Flourish is also shaping our employee wellbeing agenda by adopting a holistic approach to creating a healthy workplace.
Through a series of workshops and focus groups, Flourish has explored the key themes of a well workforce, being valued and recognised and behaviour and culture.
We also visually promote our ethos of Flourish through a distinct brand, which includes a website, and encourage staff to get involved in new challenges and wellness campaigns such as:

Programmes of work are overseen by our Flourish steering group and key projects have included a full review of our flexible working practices and policies and examining the flexible options we might create for our workforce aged 60 plus.
Since its launch in 2018, #FlourishAtNewcastleHospitals has had a huge impact in supporting health and wellbeing, reward and recognition and we will continue to develop our programme across the entire organisation.
