Commercial enterprise is a key part of Newcastle Hospitals’ five-year business strategy.
We have a range of opportunities to explore in collaboration with commercial partners, including research and real-world evaluation, innovative developments, education and training.
Supporting innovation is a core function of the commercial enterprise team, with the aim of improving services and opportunities for efficiency and growth across the organisation.
All revenue from commercial activity is reinvested in services, to ensure we continue to deliver healthcare to exceptional standards.
Why choose Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals?
Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission for the second consecutive time in 2019, we have a long history of providing high quality care, clinical excellence, and innovation in medical research regionally, nationally and internationally.
We are proud to be the country’s second largest provider of specialised services, supporting people with a range of rare and complex medical, surgical and neurological conditions, cancers and genetic disorders.
Our excellent care is supported by state-of-the-art diagnostics in radiology and pathology.
The trust’s approach to quality and innovation allows us to support pioneering clinical practice in the NHS.
As leaders in healthcare research and development across a wide range of specialisms, we can ensure benefits not only for today’s patients but for generations to come.
Much of our work is underpinned by a world-class programme of research and innovation, which is strengthened through a range of partnerships including:
- The North East and North Cumbria Academic Health Science Network (AHSN)
- National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) including the NIHR Innovation Observatory
- Northern Health Science Alliance
- Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (the region’s Academic Health Science Centre)
- The Newcastle NIHR Med Tech and In Vitro Diagnostic Cooperative (MIC) and
- Diagnostics North East (DXNE)
We have a great track record of working in collaboration to broaden and strengthen local and regional partnerships, including the world-leading Campus for Ageing and Vitality, the National Innovation Centre for Ageing and the National Innovation Centre for Data.
The north east also has a well established life science sector (almost 200 companies employing 7,000 and contributing upwards of £1.1 billion), which actively collaborates with the NHS and universities.
